lol RJ..... wait a minute..... i don't know either

2007-04-21 00:18:48 EST

Is being "whacked out" good or bad???

2007-04-20 06:05:15 EST

RJ, You're whacked out, so yeah, I'll agree with you. I like JC's term. I want to get ASS.

2007-04-20 05:47:46 EST

SAD already exists as Seasonal Affective Disorder. I think you should call it Abnormal Social Syndrome!

2007-04-20 05:07:20 EST

Social Anxiety Disorder aka "SAD".....I have diagnosed and coined the term...for the record.

2007-04-20 03:04:23 EST

Cornman, My last sentence - "you may be staring at one of many, many reasons for the change right now" - refered to my thought that the mentaly unbalanced can find support for their bizarre ideas and thoughts by searching the internet.

No matter how whacked out you are, you can always find someone who agrees with you on the internet! Do you agree with me??

2007-04-20 01:48:29 EST

The campus police were probably hideing? the killer never had a girlfriend!

2007-04-20 01:27:25 EST

Cornman, please do.

2007-04-19 22:53:55 EST

also, if you guys want to hear my thoughts on this (what zomatra, whoever, deanzworld, etc) are talking about, i'll be glad to share...

2007-04-19 22:50:55 EST

RJ, i'm curious as to what you meant by the last line of your last comment...... i'm pretty bad at figuring out stuff when its not written clear as day.

16 months ago a district court in Montgomery County, Va., ruled that Cho Seung-Hui presented "an imminent danger to self or others." Back when we did things quite differently Cho would likely have been in an insane asylum. Now the paranoid, irrational and deranged are out among us. And, of late, they have been given a support system where they can find all sorts of rationalization for any irrational and dangerous idea that they might have. It's called the internet.

Deanzworld asked "what has changed in our society that makes these events more common in recent years?" Cornman replied "look around you - and with luck, you'll see."

Deanzworld, you may be staring at one of many, many reasons for the change right now.

you know, and gosh there HAS to be a troubled past for these mega-killers....go figure, what about his victims' troubled futures? Every couple years there are these misunderstood killers that pop up out of a troublecd past, and take their anger on the whole world around them because their fathers were' "there" their mothers never "held" them or their grandparents spanked them too much...I c ould understand if this dude was constantly getting jeered, sneered, made fun of or taunted or picked on everywhere he went <beklieve it or not there are people in that situation that almost, almost snap, but don't........

You know, there is something I don't understand. When I was growing up, the world was under constant threat from nuclear extermination, the draft was hanging over our heads, African-Americans were fighting for their dignity; trying to get the same rights as every other minority had, government paid lip service to the causes, but was actually opposed to them. On top of all of that, the environment was becoming a major concern. Add to that the all-mighty J. Edgar Hoover and his FBI keeping tabs on all dissidents, including senators, congressmen, and one or two presidents. All of this was happening, all at once, and many were committed to fighting the good fight, and yet, in spite of it all, we still managed to have fun. We got high once in a while, and we knew how to rock out. The world looked as if it would vanish at any moment, but there was still joy. In light of this thread's subject, and looking around at emo, screamo, death metal, and the rest, where has the joy gone in younger people? Mind you, I am not blaming film, television, music (of any kind), or any type of literature for this downturn. I do not believe any sort of artistic expression can make anyone alienated from the world and want to kill; themselves or others. With so many causes around; with so much yet to do, why have so many young, intelligent people become detached? What the hell is going on?

The human mind is weak and often very fragile. When a person goes against their better judgement and invests so much emotion towards another person, and that person not only lets them down but utterly betrays them, they break down and do stupid shit. Fortunately most people never go to such an extreme. Fortunately most people do not invest that much emotion.

2007-04-17 21:35:21 EST

haha...... deanzworld..... look around you - and with luck, you'll see.

2007-04-17 21:29:07 EST

I am so sympathetic to all those involved. I can't understand what drives folks to take this kind of action, and what has changed in our society that makes these events more common in recent years.

2007-04-17 21:09:34 EST

Nani, That guard at your school is your best friend and you should go give him a hug tomorrow.

2007-04-17 20:55:31 EST

u can unload the 9mm he had in wat 3 4 seconds thats 20 bullets and then u reload thats 4 seconds and repeat and if sombody came after him he had a .22 pistol too so it wouldnt take too long to kill 33 but i dont understand he killed his girlfreind then a hour and 45 minuates later shot the classroom up why did they not have the police there hell i do somthin wrong they are there in like 5 minuates and all i did was blow somthin up in the woods idk why they bother with me i havent been caught yet

2007-04-17 16:14:23 EST

yeah, i guess that doesn't help.... still.... 32 people, it seems like that would take a while, unless he was in a bog group and started firing all around

2007-04-17 16:06:47 EST

Cornman, Virginia Tech has about 26,000 students and 100 buildings on 2,600 acres. (Just a bit larger than Southview!)

2007-04-17 16:00:09 EST

I think its going to end up being a 'hindsight' situation....

2007-04-17 15:44:24 EST

there's already a big wikipedia article all about this.... 33 people killed including Cho Seung-hui. it seems unrealistic that he could get away with killing 32 people though!! they must have terrible campus security, or there must have been some other situation that led to that many deaths..... we have at least 1, maybe more cops in my school every day.

2007-04-17 10:48:44 EST

No. he killed his cheating girlfriend first, then went even more mad with rage and went to one of the teaching facilities and shot the place up.

2007-04-17 06:08:48 EST

I'm sure he doesn't speak for the majority, but sadly I think he does reflect the view of a disturbingly large number of people in america.

2007-04-17 05:08:49 EST

Larson, speaking on his show, threatened to shoot his own daughter if "she ever tries marijuana or any other form of drugs. And she knows I mean it."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Larson

Gives you an insight into the mind of this man. Surely this is not your average American???

2007-04-17 00:33:15 EST

The BBC just had some talk radio guy called Lars Larson on saying that he feels the solution to the recuring issue of gun crimes in schools and universities is to allow all students to carry guns!!! It's no wonder america has such a gun problem!!!

2007-04-16 19:21:04 EST

Wedding. Blacksburg, VA. March 2003. Election fraud. No approach. No admitting. Federal monies spent. Positively would have guaranteed an impeachment if just one person had told.

2007-04-16 19:01:15 EST

you're right doe, thats why i oppose death penalty. just put em in a cell with bubba for life, thats ifinitely worse than death.

2007-04-16 18:55:07 EST

i know thinks that can make u snap but i dont go and kill ppl the worst ive don is put sombody though a wall and that was because he pretty much killed my best freind but got away with it because the car hit the kid like i could have shot him but i dont want to ruin my life i think the fact that he has to live with the fact that sombody died becuse of him is worse than him dieing

2007-04-16 16:54:27 EST

Tragic - it really breaks my heart to think of those young lives ended.

2007-04-16 16:45:41 EST

Toe-rag! Derogatory! LOL, You'll be saying their uncouth next ;p

2007-04-16 16:38:52 EST

LOL, its a derogatory name for a little shit head...

2007-04-16 16:33:46 EST

What's a toe rag?

2007-04-16 16:05:44 EST

You'll have to walk through a metal detector to get into most schools in London by next year. Its a shame but these toe rags have lost all respect...

2007-04-16 15:18:41 EST

armed soldiers at airports and what's next? armed security guards at schools, not such a bad idea...

2007-04-16 15:14:06 EST

There's 14 year olds already wearing stab vests, but apparently the can make proper uniforms out of kevlar....

2007-04-16 15:10:19 EST

Its sad that something like kevlar vests are being considered in a learning enviroment

2007-04-16 15:05:11 EST

In London a company is launching a range of school blazers and jumpers with kevlar linings to make them stab proof....

2007-04-16 14:55:01 EST

The news is saying that he went from one building to another with 2 handguns, and no one on the outside ever saw a gun.

2007-04-16 14:54:21 EST

Apparently the shooting were two hours apart. News said he was looking for his girlfriend..

2007-04-16 14:48:15 EST

I still dont understand how so many people (31 known at this time) died from one gunman.

2007-04-16 14:43:35 EST

Complete tragedy, very sad. Makes you wonder what makes someone flip like this. Deepest condolences America...

2007-04-16 14:42:22 EST

Just heard about this on the news. Very sad.
